Japanese Makeup Digital Art (with Tutorial)

This is the makeup mood board I assessed for a Japanese client. She wanted a traditional look for her wedding so I tried to figure out which style and makeup that will best suit her personality.

Now, I will show how to create the digital art from the photo we have got.

1. Create 7 layers (Face, Hair, Body, Nose, Eyes, Eyebrows, and Lips)

2. Pick the brush (works well if you use “Skin Texture Brush”, and colorize each part as similarly to the real figure, starting from face, nose, eyes, eyebrows and lips)

3. I love to blur harsh and hard edges using “Blur Tool” 🙂 You might also love using it 🙂

4. Now continue with the body. The “Body” layer has to be below the “Face” and “Hair” layer. Colorize the body as similarly to the real body color. Because the focus of this mood board is on the makeup, so, the next thing you should do, is to blur the body.

5. Now, move on to the “Hair” part. First, create the foundation of the hair. In this mood board, I used the colour of “Chestnut Brown”. Add the highlight of the hair, 30% black. Pick the small brush point.

6. Then, cover the highlight using the same foundation color but with a bigger brush point. Continue adding darker shades. From very dark brown to black.

7. Nah, Voila~~!! Done! Good luck~! 🙂

PS This artwork was made using Adobe Photoshop CS3, GIMP, and WACOM Tablet Pen 🙂
